Tottenham captain Son Heung-min says he cannot wait to play with £47.5million deadline-day signing Brennan Johnson and feels the team will be even more dangerous with the Welshman on board.

Thursday night’s friendly match between Johnson’s Wales and Son’s South Korea in Cardiff may pit the two players directly against one another.

After returning from international service, the two will play together for the first time when Spurs take on Sheffield United at home on September 16 in an effort to continue on their good start under Ange Postecoglou.

“Brennan is yet another rookie. Son added of his new teammate, who will be expected to cover some of the goals hole created by Harry Kane’s summer departure, “He proved his quality last year at Nottingham Forest and I can’t wait to see him with my eyes.

Spurs captaincy an honour for Son

Following Kane’s departure for Bayern Munich last month, he was given the same responsibility at Spurs.

Son, who scored a hat-trick in Tottenham’s 5-2 victory against Burnley over the weekend, said it was an honor and a joy to serve as club and national team captain.

“A captain is not one who speaks. It’s through deeds.

“I need to demonstrate to my teammates and the squad that I am capable of leading them both on and off the field.

“I’m surrounded by excellent players for my nation and for Tottenham. The goal over the weekend was wonderful.

“But since I have 10 players behind me and because we all love football, I’m always cool and I never rush when I don’t score for a few games. They assist me in improving as a person, athlete, and captain.
