Spurs current form an attraction for quality players; as star insist on joining Tottenham

Spurs will face Burnley on Saturday 2nd September, as they look to build upon their solid start to the new campaign under new boss Ange Postecoglou.

The Lilywhites were restricted to a 2-2 draw by Brentford before defeating Manchester United 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a commanding performance.

Postecoglou’s first competitive home victory as the Spurs’ head coach came courtesy of an own goal by Lisandro Martinez and a goal by Pape Matar Sarr.

For the North London team, Yves Bissouma has been instrumental, and he received the Man of the Match award in each of Tottenham’s opening two Premier League games.

Newest hires Manor Solomon, Micky Van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, and James Maddison all played in the first two games.

However, it seems Tottenham are still busy in the transfer market and want to add another player to the squad before the summer window slams shut, and they have now been handed a boost. 

Brennan Johnson, a player for Nottingham Forest, has told friends that he is eager to join Spurs.

Since the departure of striker Harry Kane for somewhere over £100 million, Postecoglou’s team has increased their interest in the forward.

The former Spurs player is both England’s and Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer with 30 goals, which he scored for the Lilywhites last season.

Richarlison is apparently expected to lead the line for the North Londoners this year, but the striker has had trouble getting going at Spurs thus far.

The Brazilian may, however, be able to maintain his form throughout the season with regular playing time.

Richarlison is being used to replace Harry Kane, but the club has identified Johnson as a forward they would like to sign to give Postecoglou’s team more firepower.

For Forest in the Premier League last year, the Welshman scored eight goals and provided three assists.

According to reports, Nottingham Forest is seeking a sum close to £50 million for the 22-year-old.However, it appears that the two clubs’ assessments of the player are still at odds, which might make a transaction in the last week of the transfer season improbable.
