The transfer reporter has today claimed West Ham are targeting a specific quartet of centre-backs.

Sheth has re-affirmed West Ham’s long-rumoured interest in Man United outcast Harry Maguire.

And he says Torino’s Perr Schuurs, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah and Real Betis’ Luiz Felipe are the other players on West Ham’s radar.

‘Decision will effectively rest with the player’

“It is thought the club are exploring the option of both a loan and a permanent deal for the 30-year-old England international (Maguire)…” Sheth said on Sky Sports.

“(Man) United manager Erik ten Hag has always maintained any decision will effectively rest with the player, who is contracted to until the summer of 2025…

“Other options West Ham are looking at are Torino’s Perr Schuurs, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah and Luiz Felipe from Real Betis.”

Maguire looks least likely but other three targets all plausible

West Ham fans who have been following the window thus far will be aware of links to each of those players.

From the outside looking in, Maguire seems the least likely to arrive given his alleged previous reluctance to entertain a move to the London Stadium and high wages.

So it would seem a loan would be the best the Hammers could hope for.

Deals for the other three are all plausible, though.

West Ham have Nikola Vlasic as a makeweight in any deal with Torino for Schuurs.

And ex Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini is Felipe’s manager at Betis meaning channels of communication would not be an issue there either.
