‘Very worried’ – Journalist explains what a Spurs source has told him about Levy and Kane
Journalist Dean Jones has said his sources at Tottenham have informed him that Daniel Levy is worried about the prospect of Ange Postecoglou starting his first Premier League season without Harry Kane at the club.
Kane has traveled to Australia for preseason with the Tottenham team, and on Friday, Dan Kilpatrick of The Evening Standard reported that the striker won’t push for a transfer like he did when Manchester City came calling because he doesn’t want to leave the team on bad terms.
The 29-year-old is open to all options, including signing a new contract, leaving this summer, and going on a free next summer, according to Kilpatrick.
Daniel Levy is worried about impact of selling Kane
In light of the club’s instability, Jones has now clarified that while Levy was initially amenable to the idea of cashing in on Kane, the Spurs chairman is now having second thoughts about doing so.
“In February, I have a very good contact at Tottenham who said for the first time that Daniel Levy was considering selling him this summer because he can’t stand the idea of losing him for free,” the journalist claimed on The Done Deal Show.
When I spoke to him again near the conclusion of the season, he said that he believes he won’t let him go and that he is stubborn.
He is quite concerned that Harry Kane won’t be around to see out the transition to their new manager, who has no prior Premier League experience, and he doesn’t want to lose him.
“There’s no stability left at the club, and I don’t know where these goals will come from or how you’re going to replace him.”
