The Colombian is believed to have had second thoughts about relocating to Russia, though, and subsequently declined the opportunity to sign with a Premier League and Ligue 1 team.

That ultimately made it possible for the Turkish powerhouses to sign the former Ajax player when the European transfer window closed.

Although Sanchez’s decision to relocate to Turkey surprised me a little, Galatasaray is undoubtedly working on a big project right now, and their promise of Champions League football probably helped persuade the Colombian. Thus far, it seems that the 27-year-old made the right choice.
