Report: Tottenham target ‘days’ away from £26m Prem move after turning down Liverpool

Andre Trindade, a star player for Fluminense, is reportedly just “days” away from joining Fulham for £26 million, despite competition from Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

According to “exclusive information” from one of Brazil’s most trustworthy reporters, Jorge Nicola, Marco Silva’s Cottagers are about to bring on a second Portuguese speaker.

Possibly the most exciting young midfield player in the country of South America, Andre Trindade is attracting interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham Hotspur. For the past 18 months, Liverpool has been monitoring the 21-year-old, and during the summer, Andre turned down a move to Anfield.

So be clear about it. For Fulham, who seem to be closing in on their most intriguing acquisition since Sporting Lisbon’s Joao Palhinha—who Andre may eventually replace—arrived in West London, this is quite the coup.

Liverpool and Tottenham to miss out on Andre Trindade

Via his official YouTube channel, Nicola opens with, “I want to give you exclusive information which was brought to me by an important source.”

“This person contacted me on Saturday to inform me that Fluminense has received a 30-million-euro offer. André, the player, was happy (with the offer). In addition, he finds the London club’s project appealing, and he believes that unless a better offer from Fulham surfaces, the hammer will be dropped in the next few days.

Joao Palhinha’s replacement?

Palhinha recently inked a new deal with the Cottagers. But German powerhouse Bayern Munich isn’t going to take no for an answer; their sporting director hinted recently that a second bid for the Portuguese powerhouse might be forthcoming in January.

Another tough-tackling, defensively-minded midfield player with the ability to both start and stop attacks, Andre, would help to partially fill the void left by Palhinha.

“Joao Palhinha needs to be replaced at Fulham,” Nicola continues. “They plan to have Andre starting in January. Although there are other interested parties, including Manchester United, Fulham currently appears to be the front-runner.

Not to be overlooked, Fulham joined the Andre Trindade party very early.

Long before the scouts were flocking to Fluminense like gulls over a mound of abandoned seaside fries, the Cottagers made a £18 million bid, and it looks like all that hard work is about to pay off.
