After a little over a year at the north London club, the Italian has resigned from his position in the recruitment department.
Football.london has learned that Leonardo Gabbanini has resigned from his position as top scout for Tottenham Hotspur.
The Italian was hired by former managing director of football Fabio Paratici, and during the current summer transfer window, he collaborated closely with Ange Postecoglou and chairman Daniel Levy to completely restructure the Tottenham roster in preparation for a totally different manager than the one who came before.
The 43-year-old from Florence, who joined the team in July of last year to assist Paratici in locating the best purchases for Postecoglou’s very different style of play and the club’s academy, has since left the organization.
Gabbanini was hired to broaden and enhance Spurs’ football and scouting networks.In a piece on him published in the summer, London stated that he had high expectations for his scouts, including thorough reports, analysis, and statistics. This summer, the north London club enhanced the quality of the data that will be made available to its analysts moving ahead, which is no accident given the market’s intense pressure.
Scott Munn, the newly appointed chief football officer at Tottenham, began his official employment with the team on Thursday. It is anticipated that he will quickly hire a new technical director to serve as a director of football in between him and Postecoglou.
At Tottenham, Gabbanini was considering signing players at all levels. His focus on the academy stems from his time spent as a coach in the development programs at Sampdoria and Fiorentina. He was head of academy coaching at the latter before moving to work for the Pozzo family and take on a dual position at Watford and Udinese.
