Report: £27m player now ready to say his goodbyes to Spurs teammates, already has a shirt number at new club

Giovani Lo Celso is now prepared to say goodbye to his colleagues at Tottenham, as he is rumored to be closing on a transfer to Galatasaray.

That’s what Aksam in Turkey says.

What’s new with Giovani Lo Celso at Tottenham, then? Let’s examine this.

Galatasaray set to sign Lo Celso

The Argentina international wants to quit Tottenham, according to Yeneri Asir, another Turkish news source, since he isn’t getting enough playing time under Ange Postecoglou.

Now, Galatasaray is getting close to signing Lo Celso, as Aksam has revealed, with the transfer market in Turkey open until Friday, February 9.

Galatasaray even reportedly has the No. 10 shirt ready for the South American tournament, according to the Turkish news source.

As Lo Celso gets ready to say farewell to his Tottenham colleagues, Aksam reports that a transaction is almost finalized because Postecoglou isn’t willing to give the Spurs No. 18 the squad role he wants.

Since joining Tottenham in January 2020 after signing a £27.2 million contract from Real Betis, the Argentine has made 96 appearances for the club.

Tottenham can afford to lose Lo Celso

This rumor may disappoint some because, after scoring in the 3-3 draw against Manchester City earlier this season, it appeared that Lo Celso was headed for a comeback under Postecoglou.

Spurs can afford to lose the promising 27-year-old even though he is clearly a talented football player.

Since Tottenham is not participating in the FA Cup or the Carabao Cup this season and does not have any European football scheduled, Postecoglou does not actually require a lot of depth in his squad.

Lo Celso’s need to stay is diminished by this as well as by the addition of Lucas Bergvall, a midfield player who joined on transfer deadline day for £8.5 million from Djurgarden.

Keep a watch on this issue, as it appears the Argentine will depart N17 for Galatasaray by Friday.
