Everyone connected to Tottenham, according to Jermain Defoe, wants Harry Kane to be successful at Bayern Munich.
Kane will unquestionably be remembered as Tottenham’s greatest legend of the Premier League era, and some may even argue that he is the club’s all-time greatest player.
It’s fair to say, though, that some of the 30-year-old’s remarks since joining Bayern in the summer haven’t exactly been well received by all Tottenham supporters.
His claim that Bayern Munich was under more pressure to produce consistent results than Spurs (Mirror) was met with outrage on social media last month.
With 13 goal contributions (nine goals and four assists) in nine games across all competitions thus far, the England captain has enjoyed an exceptional start to the season. According to Defoe, Tottenham fans want the center-forward to be successful at the Allianz Arena.
Jermain Defoe wants to see big things from Kane
The 41-year-old responded to Stats Perform when questioned about Kane’s transfer to Bayern, as quoted by SportMax: “For Harry, it’s great for him and his family. It’s a fresh obstacle.
“Everyone at Tottenham wishes him the best. We always felt he would succeed because he is a world-class athlete. He’s capable of scoring anywhere. In terms of objectives, nothing alters.
“We just want to wish him the best because Harry is a special guy and deserves everything he gets. Harry is special as a footballer.”
Kane will undoubtedly always be liked by the vast majority of the fan base, despite a vocal minority of Spurs supporters on social media who seem keen to find reasons to loathe the striker.

Spurs take closer look at Dylan Thompson
The highly regarded Thompson has recently been training with Spurs after declining a contract with the Canaries, and the clubs may soon agree on a deal, as it is obvious that he would prefer a move to the Premier League leaders at this time.
In fact, it appears as though he may fulfill his ambition, as Spurs have expressed interest in signing him and the two parties may soon come to an agreement.
Spurs are reportedly willing to pay a compensation fee to Norwich City in order to sign Thompson, and they may have edged out Sheffield Wednesday in this particular transfer race as the Owls are also considering Thompson as a way to improve their options going forward.
However, given that Thompson trains with Spurs, it appears that his heart is with moving to the Premier League’s current league leaders rather than anywhere else. The Owls are currently struggling in the Championship and could, in theory, give him starting opportunities sooner than Spurs could.
Spurs on course to sign another EFL talent
Spurs have undoubtedly looked to the EFL for prospective new additions without hesitation.
The most recent example of this might be Dele Alli, who joined from MK Dons and is currently in his greatest form of his career, collaborating with players like Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane.
Though Jack Clarke struggled to maintain his form after joining Spurs after blowing things up at Leeds United, not every young player that goes there is a hit.
He has indeed since made his way to Sunderland, where he seems to be back on track, but it has taken him some time to settle there.
As a result, Thompson will be eager to prove himself at Spurs and will be hoping that, ultimately, he can force his way into the first team, even if as a young goalkeeper that will take time.
However, it would appear that Spurs believe he has the capacity to make it in time, and it is now a matter of “when” rather than “if” the club signs a deal to bring him in and sign with Norwich City.
