Aston Villa midfielder set for ‘highest paid player’ offer on one condition
Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson is free to leave this summer and former loan club Strasbourg are keen to bring him back to France.
In order to convince the Aston Villa midfielder to make a permanent move back to France this summer, Strasbourg and incoming new manager Patrick Vieira are prepared to provide the midfielder’s highest salary in the club’s history.
It is obvious that Sanson will be given permission to permanently depart Villa this summer. Sanson returned to Bodymoor Heath this summer to find Youri Tielemans there after being loaned out by Unai Emery in the January transfer window after failing to make an impression on the Spaniard or his predecessor Steven Gerrard.
Not only does the Belgian add to the competition for a midfield position, but Villa has also revealed Tielemans as their new number eight, which was Sanson’s number last season. This move alone might be seen as a pretty concerning indication for the Frenchman. Tielemans is competing for a spot under Emery alongside fellow countryman Leander Dendoncker, captain John McGinn, academy graduate of the year Jacob Ramsey, Douglas Luiz, and Boubacar Kamara.
Sanson will be permitted to depart this summer, along with Marvelous Nakamba and one or two other Villa players, despite the fact that he still has a few years left on his deal with the claret and blue. He must have made an impression at Strasbourg in the second half of the previous campaign as well, according to rumours in France that they want to bring him back.
Sanson played in 18 league games for Strasbourg last season, helping the team finish 15th in Ligue 1 and narrowly avoid relegation. He scored once, in a loss to Lyon. L’Equipe claims that despite being strapped for cash, they want to bring Sanson back and offer him the best contract possible. However, much will rely on if Sanson can avoid the remaining terms of his Villa contract because a substantial transfer fee is not something they can afford.
