The No. 1 Razorbacks won their weekend series with a 3-2 victory against the No. 5 Volunteers on Sunday in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Moments later, SEC Network cameras captured a brief, angry postgame altercation between Tennessee Coach Tony Vitello and University of Arkansas Coach Dave Van Horn.

According to Van Horn, Vitello initiated the verbal altercation, which immediately gained attention on social media, and it involved multiple topics.

First, the camera panned to Van Horn and his erstwhile protégé Vitello arguing in the infield. Arkansas’s best reliever, Kevin Kopps, had closed out both of the Razorbacks’ victories in the series.

In the thrilling, high-stakes series, the teams traded three one-run victories,

and following the last out, players from both teams seemed to be chirping at one another.

Van Horn gestured to Vitello with his index finger, and then he quickly lifted and lowered it. The Tennessee coach, still wearing his mask, moved in front of Van Horn to stop him.

The head coaches broke up after a short while, and Van Horn proceeded in the line for the team handshake. Assistant coaches from both sides then intervened. Subsequently, Van Horn and Vitello conversed once more for a short while behind home plate.

Vitello, who served as Van Horn’s principal assistant at Arkansas from 2014 to 17, claimed he started the rift.
