Gary Lineker, a former striker for Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, has recently talked on which club he wants to prevail when the two teams play.
Throughout his career, Lineker played for three English teams, the most of which he did so for Leicester City in the 1970s and 1980s. Following three years at Barcelona, he then joined Everton and Spurs.
The striker is an English icon for a cause, having had a decorated career.
And from his extensive post-playing punditry career, it has become evident that Lineker is a huge Leicester supporter.
Fans could be unsure of his loyalties to the previous teams he played for, though.
In fact, Lineker was asked who he would support when Everton and Spurs play each other during a recent interview on the “Rest is Football” podcast.
Naturally, Sean Dyche’s team played Ange Postecoglou’s outstanding Tottenham squad over the weekend, and the match ended in a late 2-2 tie.
Furthermore, in his podcast speech, Lineker remained pretty politicized while acknowledging that he was pleased with the draw.

Lineker acknowledged that he still harbors affection for both of his former selves.
“Obviously, I have a fondness for my former clubs, Everton and Tottenham, as they were rivals,” he remarked.
“I received a few texts asking me who I wanted to win when Everton plays Tottenham.
“I really hope that neither team loses. They sketched yesterday, so that made me very happy.
Given that Lineker made more than twice as many appearances for Everton in North London, some Tottenham supporters might be a little let down by the outcome.
It’s evident, though, that the pundit didn’t always see things that way; he had wonderful recollections with each of the parties involved.
Even while Lineker could acknowledge that Nagoya Grampus was his favorite Japanese team, there isn’t really much competition in that case.
Having said that, Declan Rice has since spoken out about Spurs following Arsenal’s victory last night.
