‘That’s now sorted’: Celtic get the green light to go and sign striker who impressed Gary Neville

With the updates coming in thick and fast over the last twelve hours, it appears that Celtic’s transfer activity has picked up a notch.

Following Fabricio Romano’s overnight update, the Sydney van Hooijdonk rumors have been refuted, and Celtic’s focus is now on Adam Idah, a 22-year-old striker for Norwich.

Ironically, though, Norwich City needed to get a striker in the door after the Championship team closed a deal on van Hooijdonk before Celtic could pursue the Republic of Ireland international.

Journalist Mark Hendry claims that as the agreement appears to be finalized, Celtic may now move forward with pursuing Idah.

Hendry addressed X and said, “Norwich and Sydney van Hooijdonk have reached an agreement. Canaries refused to approve Adam Idah’s Celtic loan until they had a suitable alternative in place.

“That’s resolved now, so there are no more obstacles.

Yes, as I mentioned earlier, I also find this transaction to be ironic. It should be easy to close this deal because Idah is rumored to be eager to join Celtic.

What Gary Neville has said about Adam Idah

Regarding dealing with strikers, Gary Neville is the person you should talk to if you want to hear his advice.

In his day, the legend of Manchester United faced some of the top strikers in the world.

Neville was quite satisfied with Idah’s performance during Norwich’s 3-0 away victory over Watford in January 2022.

Neville told the Irish Independent, “I wouldn’t be comfortable as a defender if I was up against Teemu Pukki and Adam Idah,” following his creation of an assist in the victory.

Adam Idah Celtic striker?

Idah’s goal scoring record this season isn’t the best, as TBR Celtic already stated, but how do his lifetime goals compare?

After rising through the Norwich youth systems, the 22-year-old was highly regarded. In 2018, he made 15 appearances and scored nine goals in his Premier League U18 debut.

After receiving a promotion, he played six games for the Norwich reserve team in Premier League 2 (formerly called the Professional Development League), however he was unable to score.

The following season, Idah improved on that performance with 12 goals in 19 games, which saw him swiftly advance to the Norwich first team.

Nevertheless, Idah has only managed to score once in 29 games, and the 22-year-old has only scored 11 goals in 70 Championship appearances.

Idah does seem like another project signing with 41 goals in 168 games, but if he signs with Celtic, I suppose the supporters will just have to wait and see what he can do to replace Yogo Furuhashi. [Transfermarkt]

In other news, a West Ham player valued at £15,000 is predicted to sign with Celtic prior to the deadline.
