Exclusive: Celtic in advanced talks to sign new player

Adam Idah, a striker for Norwich City, is reportedly close to signing with Celtic, sources have told Football Insider.

A final agreement is reportedly close as the Hoops try to sign the 22-year-old on a late contract from the Championship team.

Idah is eager to come to Parkhead this month, according to well-placed sources who spoke with Football Insider overnight. A breakthrough appears likely as a result of the clubs’ talks.

Today, January 31, marks the start of the negotiations again. It is anticipated that the agreement will be finalized prior to the transfer window closing.

Idah has scored seven goals in 34 appearances in all competitions this season, making him a prolific scorer for the Canaries.

Throughout his 115 appearances, he has scored 17 goals and supplied four assists while playing for Norwich.

Following the signing of Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna on a five-and-a-half-year contract for a reputed £3 million, the Hoops are eager to bolster their assault this month.

Since making his debut in September 2020, Idah has made 20 appearances for the senior Republic of Ireland national team, appearing on a regular basis.

Before the transfer window closes, Celtic may make more moves. Last week (January 22), Football Insider reported that the team is prepared to take an offer for goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist, who is attracting interest from all across Europe.

Celtic defeated Ross County 1-0 on Saturday, January 27, to take a five-point lead over Rangers at the top of the league.

Their next league match is on Saturday lunchtime, away against Aberdeen (3 February).
