The Spurs star hopes to return to Portugal someday. He was born there.
Eric Dier has stated that he hopes to visit Portugal again and fall in love with Sporting CP again in the future.
Following his childhood relocation to the nation, the Lisbon club gave the England defender his debut in the league. In 2014, he made his first-team debut before joining Tottenham.
Dier has a contract with the Spurs through 2024, so he isn’t thinking about leaving the team just yet, but he has hinted that he might return to Sporting at some point after he hangs up his boots.
He said at the Web Summit in Lisbon, “One day I am sure I will be back,” according to PA.
“I believe it to be inevitable. When my career is done, my wife and I may return one day to live here if she so chooses.
“I’ve spent 12 years in sports, and it will always be my club. For me, Portugal is also home. I hope to have many more years to play since I’m only 29. I’m not too old. For me, football comes first.”
Dier was benched by Tottenham during the first few weeks of the season, but recent injuries and suspensions have forced him back into the starting lineup.
Their quick ascent under Ange Postecoglou has been slowed down by consecutive losses to Chelsea and Wolves, but the 29-year-old is not worried that their chances of winning the championship are over just yet.
“We’re still at the start of the season, there is still a long way to go,” he said.
“I am experienced enough to know anything is possible.”

Soccer.Ange Postescoglou, according to London’s Alasdair Gold, will be anxiously observing and hoping Rodrigo Bentancur returns from the international break unscathed.
For the first time since the World Cup last year, Bentancur is back in the Uruguayan lineup. The South American country will play Argentina and Bolivia in qualifiers.
It took the midfielder eight weeks to return to action, and for the first time since he suffered an ACL injury in February, Tottenham has no control over his health or fitness level.

Gold notes that although Bentancur, 26, has been pounding on Postecoglou’s door for some time, the Lilywhites have taken extra care with his recuperation.
The reporter continues, stating that the Spurs medical staff has been advising caution because the player hasn’t been subjected to the physical demands of football for the better part of a year.
As Postecoglou’s style and Uruguayan manager Marcelo Bielsa’s high-intensity approach demand a lot of the players, Gold continues, the Spurs manager will be hoping that the 68-year-old realizes that the Tottenham player isn’t quite ready for 90 minutes just yet.
The Tottenham medical team would have communicated with the Uruguayan medical staff to assess Bentanucr’s progress, I’m sure.
But, Bielsa will naturally put his team’s needs first, and with a few pivotal games ahead of him, he may determine that starting Bentancur is a risk worth taking.
