Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly facing competition from Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

Romelu Lukaku, a striker wanted by both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, is reportedly a player that AS Roma head coach Jose Mourinho wants to sign.

According to ESPN, Roma wants to borrow Chelsea’s striker Lukaku from the former Manchester United team during the summer transfer window.

According to the rumor, Mourinho is “keen on a reunion” with the Belgian striker who earns £300,000 a week and was acquired by Manchester United in 2017 from Everton.

Roma intends to launch a loan proposal for the 30-year-old attacker today, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who posted the news on Twitter.

Tottenham Hotspur, who have also been associated with the Chelsea striker, will take the interest from Roma in Lukaku as a setback.

Tottenham have had “preliminary contacts” over a deal for the Belgium international striker, according to Calciomercato’s report from last week.

On his website earlier this month, the Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla said that Spurs are considering signing the former Everton striker.

In the summer transfer window, it appeared doubtful that Chelsea would sell Lukaku or even lend him to Tottenham.

After all, London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham are vying for a spot in the top four of the Premier League this year.

Why therefore would Chelsea simply allow Lukaku to join Spurs and strengthen the North London team?
