‘Surprised Name’: A report indicates that Tottenham has explored a last-minute signing of a £15 million ‘born leader’

SPURS HAVE DISCUSSED A LATE MOVE FOR A £15M “BORN LEADER,” A REPORTER ALLEGES.

There have supposedly been internal negotiations at Tottenham Hotspur regarding a possible signing of Wout Faes, a defender for Leicester City.

Tottenham Hotspur is rumored to be interested in signing Leicester City star Wout Faes.

According to reporter Ben Jacobs, who said as much late on Wednesday night on Last Word on Spurs.

Before the transfer deadline, Jacobs believes that Tottenham is considering a number of center back targets.

According to the CBS Sports reporter, Faes is a “surprise name” in the running for Tottenham.

Jacobs, a supporter of Leicester City, asserts that a number of teams have at least had internal discussions about making a last-minute bid for Faes, including Tottenham.

Leicester are insistent that they do not want to sell Faes, so making this transfer in the last days of the window seems quite doubtful.

While Tottenham is prepared to make a move for a new center back before the window closes, Jacobs still believes that this is a move to watch.

“I don’t think anything is advanced at this point because Leicester’s position is clear that they don’t want to sell, but just keep a small eye on Wout Faes, who obviously went down with Leicester and was the replacement for Wesley Fofana from last summer,” the author said.

“There are a few teams searching, and I’ve been told that Tottenham is one of them that has at least internally examined the prospect. At this point, it doesn’t seem like the transaction will move forward due of Leicester’s position. It would come as a major surprise, but once again, it shows that Tottenham has more than six centre back candidates they’re willing to pursue,” he continued.

Who is Tottenham Hotspur target Wout Faes?

Faes began his career with his hometown team Rauw Sport Mol before beginning his youth career with Lierse.

Faes had talent, and Anderlecht signed him in 2012 at the age of 14.

Back in 2014, The Daily Mail stated that Chelsea and Manchester United were interested in signing Faes but he chose to stay with Anderlecht.

Before going on to Oostende in 2018, the 6’2″ center back was loaned out to Heerenveen and Excelsior in the Netherlands.

Faes began to realize his full potential there, and he continued to improve to win a 2020 transfer to the French team Reims.

Leicester was more than pleased to spend £15 million to get Faes to the King Power Stadium last summer as he continued to impress.

Last season, Faes had his ups and downs, most notably scoring two notorious own goals at Anfield and being relegated with the Foxes.

However, the Belgian still displayed promise when playing in the Premier League, which is why Tottenham is currently looking.

Faes, who Anderlecht academy manager Jean Kindermans described as a “born leader,” would provide Tottenham another center back option for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play, but any transfer would undoubtedly depend on Davinson Sanchez or Eric Dier leaving.
