Official Leeds United bid update for Alex Nubel emerges from Sky Sports Germany

Leeds United remain in the running to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel, according to Sky Sports Germany.

The sports broadcaster reported online (19 July) that the Whites still wish to sign Nubel on a permanent deal however are yet to make an official offer for the 26-year-old.

Leeds face competition from VfB Stuttgart for the services of the German goalkeeper with Bayern Munich currently weighing up a second offer from Stuttgart over a one-year-loan deal.

Signing Nubel would be brilliant business for Leeds with the former Schalke man once described as “super-human” on the official Bundesliga website for his display against RB Leipzig in October 2019.

Time is ticking

With Bayern Munich currently weighing up an offer from elsewhere and yet to reject it, Leeds will need to act fast if they are serious about signing Nubel.

If they could get the deal across the line it would be a brilliant signing and the 6’4 shot-stopper would be able to use his experience at the highest level to help Daniel Farke’s side in their promotion push.

Having made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 19, the player is clearly capable of handling pressure even if it hasn’t quite worked out for him in Munich.

He has spent the past two seasons on loan with AS Monaco in Ligue One, keeping 24 clean sheets in 97 appearances, an impressive return.

A decision will need to arrive soon if the club are serious about their pursuit and this is one to certainly keep an eye on over the coming days
