Representatives from Tottenham were in Portugal this past weekend to watch two players, according to 90min.

According to the report, they watched closely as Benfica defeated Sporting Lisbon 2-1 on Sunday, and they also watched Pedro Goncalves and Marcus Edwards.

Scouts from several European clubs attended the exciting derby match, keeping an eye on the gifted players on both teams. Tottenham, though, was concentrating on Goncalves and Edwards.

Tottenham may be able to acquire Edwards for less than their rivals because of a 25% sell-on clause in his contract, despite reports that he has a £52 million release clause.

After leaving Tottenham’s academy, the player joined Sporting CP, where he has flourished.

He finished with 12 goals and 14 assists in all competitions the previous season, and he has continued to play well this year, tallying 3 goals and 4 assists so far.

When Tottenham scouted Pedro Porro last year, Pedro Goncalves reportedly attracted their attention, according to 90min.

Goncalves is an appealing addition for Tottenham and manager Ange Postecoglou because he is a versatile player who can play on either flank or as an attacking midfielder.

In 11 games this season, the 25-year-old has contributed 3 goals and 1 assist. He has made 146 appearances for the Portuguese team, tallying 38 assists and 63 goals.

Ange appears to favor versatility in his players, as evidenced by Brennan Johnson’s recent addition.

Goncalves seems like a better fit for Ange’s side, even though Edwards would be the less expensive option.

Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider claims that Bayern Munich is “plotting a move” for Eric Dier, a defender for Tottenham, in January.

According to the report, Dier is expected to leave the team on a free transfer either in January or the summer of next year, according to “a well-placed source.”

It remains to be seen if Bayern makes a move for him in January, but if they do, Levy will probably take the money and sell him off right away.
