Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about the availability of Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho this summer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Sancho was returned to England by the Red Devils in 2021 for £73 million, and despite the astronomical price tag, it was widely believed that United had acquired one of the game’s upcoming superstars.Sancho was expected to thrive in the Premier League following his impressive displays with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. He would use his speed, close control, and creative production to help United reclaim the top spot in English football.

But the events that followed were disappointing. Sancho has had trouble adjusting to life at Old Trafford and has frequently failed to make an impression on the managers he has worked under.

Sancho’s performance has improved under Erik ten Hag, but it hasn’t been enough to guarantee him regular starts.

As a result, during the transfer season, there were rumors tying him to a move away from Old Trafford, and Ten Hag may be just a little tempted to cash in on the 23-year-old this summer.

Ben Jacobs claims that Tottenham is the team looking for any ambiguity and has enquired about Sancho’s availability.

Postecoglou’s man-management style and ability to improve players quickly may appeal to Sancho as he looks to rescue his Premier League career, but a deal between United and Spurs would likely be difficult to conduct.

How did Sancho fare last season?

Sancho, who has been referred to as a “unusual” player, only made 26 Premier League games in all competitions last season. The winger’s final record of seven goals and three assists will likely leave him feeling unsatisfied.

It was a positive beginning for the campaign. Two games later, a similarly smooth finish away at Leicester followed a beautifully taken goal against Liverpool on matchday three.

His season did, however, lose some of its luster, even though it was still occasionally brilliant. Sancho was left off of England’s World Cup team that left for Qatar, which isn’t likely to have helped his confidence. When the Premier League resumed, the youngster found it difficult to have an impression.

When you take into account the fact that Sancho amassed a total of 114 goals and assists in 137 games at Dortmund, you can see why United will be dissatisfied with his lack of development thus far.
Spurs will be standing by in case they decide to sell the 23-year-old after just two seasons, but that is another thing.
