Jamie Carragher, a pundit, commended Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur for his effort level in Sunday’s match against Manchester City.

Jamie Carragher, who has been talking to Sky Sports about both Son and Rashford, has reached that conclusion.

Son gave Tottenham the lead early in their 3-3 draw with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs refused to give up and twice overcame deficits to earn a point at the Etihad Stadium.

Son seems to have a particular place in his heart for a goal against City, even though he scores goals frequently anyhow.

That’s eight goals against City in 18 games, but Sunday’s performance was about more than just his goal.

As the focal point of Tottenham’s attack, Son delivered a fantastic performance, showcasing his exceptional work ethic once more.

The 31-year-old South Korean is showing no signs of slowing down, as Tottenham has witnessed when he took on the captain’s armband this season.

Now, while talking about Marcus Rashford, the attacker for Manchester United, pundit Jamie Carragher has shifted to praising Son.

After United’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle United on Saturday, Rashford appeared utterly uninterested, leading many to doubt his work ethic.

Carragher says that because you have to run a lot and don’t get much ball, Manchester City might be the worst place for an opposition forward to play.

Carragher thinks Son did a fantastic job in that role on Sunday, complimenting him on how he “did not stop running” and performed in the Tottenham draw like a true “leader” and “captain.”

The former Liverpool defender believes Rashford should be displaying the same level of desire as Son instead of coming off as unconcerned. He didn’t show any of that.

Because Rashford is a local player who grew up at Old Trafford, Carragher urged him to bring everyone up with him at United.

“You’re not going to get much of a kick away at Man City, so there must be no more difficult place to go as an attacking player, center forward, or lone striker,” stated Carragher. “Son did not stop running. Sure, he scored and was involved; he’s a good player, but when we discuss the truly exceptional players we have seen in this league in terms of attacking prowess, we immediately think of Mo Salah and Mane, as well as some of the players that Manchester City has had. Son did not stop running today. Today, while at Manchester City, that person demonstrated leadership and captaincy.

“We’ve seen in the past that Rashford will provide goals and assists; we’re not asking for them now. You’re asking for leadership, and that’s exactly what you’re getting. No matter who he plays with, those players need to look up to him and say, “He is Manchester United; he’s what embodies this football club and he’s going to drag them up with him.” Because that football team is incredible, and it will rise to the top eventually, but Marcus Rashford has the most responsibility of any player in that squad because he’s from the area.
