Spurs transfer news: Deadline day has begun as Tottenham attempt to add to Ange Postecoglou’s team before the 11 p.m. deadline, as well as move players on.

Tottenham Hotspur will undoubtedly make headlines on transfer deadline day. As the summer market nears its end, Daniel Levy and company have until 11 p.m. to finalize any remaining transfer transactions.

The Lilywhites still have a lot of work to do before the end of the day, including bringing in a new attacker, maybe strengthening in defense and midfield, and releasing a few undesired players. Tottenham may have waited too long to finish all of the business that needed to be completed before the transfer deadline this evening. It would be a miracle if they could sign three new players and then move on before the clock strikes 11 p.m.

Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest is one signing I believe will go through. However, in true Tottenham fashion, this might stretch on until the end of the window.

Spurs desperately need a new center-back right now, but it will all depend on outgoings in that part of the field. Japhet Tanganga has been loaned to Augsburg for the season, although it is unclear what will happen to Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez.

I believe the latter will remain at the club, and I believe the former will as well, unless a permanent deal comes in for him in the coming hours, leaving Spurs without a new centre-back. Because Dier is in the final year of his contract, a loan move will not suffice, and it should ideally be a permanent one from the Spurs’ standpoint.

In the final few hours, I expect Tottenham to pull a rabbit out of a hat and agree on a deal with Chelsea for Conor Gallagher. The transaction will be completed when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaves Tottenham after three years.

Tanguy Ndombele, who spent last season on loan with Napoli, is one of the Spurs players who will be loaned out. Hugo Lloris will not be moved this late in the transfer window, leaving Tottenham with a decision to make about him.

It’s deadline day, and Spurs fans will be nervous. Things went well for new head coach Ange Postecoglou at the start of the summer transfer window, but deals began to dry up as the summer progressed, leaving the Australian with a lot of work to do on the final day of the market.

Will everything be finished? It appears unlikely. Daniel Levy is used to hectic deadline days, and this one will be no exception. However, if we’re projecting what will actually happen, I’m afraid I can’t say anything.

I believe a deal for a new forward will be completed, and I believe that forward will be Brennan Johnson. Everything appears to be in place for that transfer to go through, and Postecoglou appears to be prepared to go nuclear if it does not.

Sergio Reguilon will join Manchester United on loan, and Japhet Tanganga and Tanguy Ndombele will also go on loan. There will be a late bid for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, which Postecoglou will be hesitant to make given the lack of competition, but Levy will authorise it late in the day and that will be the end of it.

No defender will sign, leaving Davinson Sanchez as the club’s backup to Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, and Eric Dier as the club’s outcast, running down his current contract.
