‘SHOW SOME RESPECT’: CHRIS SUTTON BLASTS LEEDS UNITED’S CRYSENCIO SUMMERVILLE FOR HIS ACTIONS
Chris Sutton has blasted Crysencio Summerville for diving during Leeds United’s 2-2 draw against Cardiff City in the Championship on Sunday at Elland Road.
Throughout the game, Crysencio Summerville was a threat for Daniel Farke’s men, alongside Wilfried Gnonto, but Sutton told him ‘show a little respect’ and ‘stop’ diving, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The recently-relegated Premier League side started the game like they ended the previous campaign, conceding goals.
They were 2-0 down inside the first half and the Elland Road fans were once again questioning their backline, but that bright spark, bit of energy and flair was coming from the likes of Summerville.
In the end, he deserved his goal, and in truth, Leeds could have argued that they should have walked away with three points because of how they attacked the Bluebirds, as Sutton had other things on his mind when discussing the game.
“It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, we will hunt the divers down and we will call them out,” said Sutton. “But the winner (of this week’s simulation game), Crysencio Summerville from Leeds.
“I mean, it was hideous. Why?! Show a little respect, Summerville. You are better than that. Just stop it. Stop diving. We will call you out. You are a good player.”
Summerville could do serious damage in the Championship
There are a number of top young talents within Leeds’ squad and they will do well to keep hold of those names with the 2023 summer transfer window still open – Tyler Adams could be out of the door pretty soon.
If they manage to keep someone like Summerville, then he has the quality and skill set to get into double figures in England’s second-tier, the same with Gnonto, but he is also attracting Premier League interest, although, Everton have received bad news about him recently.
And then that papers over the cracks of the defence because it wouldn’t be a surprise if those players continue to struggle at the back this term
