Romano claims Spurs tried to ‘hijack’ deal for ‘special’ attacker with 21 goals in summer – even made a huge bid
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham made a concerted effort to sabotage a summer transfer for Vitor Roque.
Spurs signed seven players during the bustling summer transfer window to begin the Ange Postecoglou era.
James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Manor Solomon, Ashley Phillips, Brennan Johnson, Micky van de Ven, and Alejo Veliz were all signed by the team. Additionally, they managed to get Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski permanents.
They also desired to add a defender, but they were unable to reach an agreement with one in time for the deadline.
Romano now says that Tottenham attempted to sign Vitor Roque of Barcelona, another excellent player.
He discloses that Spurs made a valiant effort to sabotage the agreement for the Brazilian beauty.
Speaking on the Kick, he said:
“He’s not that horrible. Believe me. Vitor Roque is an exceptional athlete.
“Barca put up a strong battle to sign Vitor Roque. Vitor Roque was desired by many clubs.
“Behind the scenes, Tottenham attempted to hijack the deal until the very end of the story with Barcelona, right up until they signed the last page of the contract.”
“Tottenham was present, and they took that opportunity very seriously and with great strength. Vitor Roque was also desired by other clubs.
This was previously made public a few months ago by the player’s agent.
He disclosed that Tottenham placed a proposal for the Brazilian sensation that was almost close to €100 million.
But even with the English team’s tempting offers, Roque was dead set on moving to Barcelona.
In recent years, Vitor Roque has become one of the most highly regarded attacking players in Brazilian football.
He has made 45 appearances in all competitions this season, contributing to an amazing total of 21 goals and 8 assists.

Boss of Bournemouth Andoni Iraola has revealed that Lloyd Kelly, the rumored Tottenham target, will now need to sit out a significant amount of time due to injury.

With little over six months remaining on his contract with the Cherries (Transefermarkt), a number of teams, notably AC Milan (TMW), Juventus (Fabrizio Romano), Liverpool (Football Insider), and Arsenal (Tuttosport), are reportedly keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old.
But even with the increasing interest in Kelly’s talents, TEAMtalk claimed a few weeks ago that Tottenham is still Kelly’s most likely destination.

Spurs’ efforts to sign the center back, though, may now be in jeopardy as word leaked out that he will likely need to spend a significant amount of time recovering on the sidelines.
Iraola just mentioned that Kelly will be out of commission for “some weeks,” without providing a precise time frame.
The Spaniard stated on the official Bournemouth website: “Lloyd Kelly has some very dreadful news. He will be out for a few weeks due to a muscular ailment.
He has been doing incredibly well right from the start. He has performed admirably at center back, both defensively and offensively, and he is an excellent player.
“Obviously, you never want your best players hurt, but every club experiences this. We need to be prepared to be strong in his absence, and we have excellent options.
“The schedule isn’t ideal because we have a lot of important games coming up, but we’re hoping that nothing more goes wrong in training and we’ll have the same squad available for action this weekend.”
Tottenham’s interest in Kelly for January may come to a stop as a result of this injury because the North London team would prefer not to pay a transfer fee for the center-back until his fitness is confirmed, especially because Kelly would be eligible to sign for free the following summer.
