‘Ridiculous’: Tim Sherwood thinks Ange Postecoglou needs to change one thing at Tottenham now

Ange Postecoglou needs to change up his approach at Tottenham Hotspur, according to Tim Sherwood.

The former Tottenham manager expressed concerns about Ange Postecoglou’s tactics at Manchester City yesterday in a talkSPORT interview (4/12, 8:17 am).

Against all odds, Spurs managed to salvage a point on Sunday afternoon at the Etihad Stadium following a 3-3 draw.

Spurs were lucky to trail 2-1 at the half, with Phil Foden’s striker canceling out the first goal scored by the team captain Son Heung-Min.However, in the second half, Postecoglou’s team significantly improved and started to settle down on the ball.

Dejan Kulusevski did in fact report that Postecoglou was upset with his team at halftime and exhorted them to play bravely when the ball was in play.

It clearly paid off as Spurs moved up the field more in the second half and used Kulusevski to secure an equalizer in the closing seconds.

However, Tim Sherwood thinks Postecoglou should occasionally alter his strategy.

Sherwood says Postecoglou needs to ‘mix it up’ at Tottenham

Sherwood revealed the one adjustment he would like to see Postecoglou make at Spurs this morning while speaking on talkSPORT.

The former Tottenham manager remarked, “I think I would mix it up a little bit more, especially there.” “At City, giving them a lead and continuing to pass the ball to them in your own half is the last thing you need to do.”

It’s his way of doing things, so he trusts them to do it, but I believe there’s a thin line. It can range from the sublime to the absurd at times.

“But he’s not going to stop them; they’re going to play exactly the same way whether they play for Burnley, Sheffield United, or Man City.”

Postecoglou has had a good start to life at Tottenham, but some have criticized his strategy in crucial matches.

Regardless of the opponent, the Australian manager has made it abundantly clear that he will position his Spurs team to play attacking football.

Yesterday, Spurs went to City without players like James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero. Postecoglou, though, pleaded with his team to play City.

Tottenham eventually benefited from it, as they advanced up the pitch and put pressure on City, and they got better in the second half.
