According to Estadio Deportivo, Sergio Reguilon may be loaned by Tottenham Hotspur to a La Liga team in the January transfer window.
Reguilon spent the previous season on loan at Atletico Madrid, but things did not work out there. He was sidelined for most of the season and found it difficult to crack Diego Simeone’s starting lineup even when he was healthy.
Due to their left-back injury issues, the 26-year-old has had a far better season at Manchester United, making 10 appearances so far.
Erik Ten Hag did, however, clarify a few days ago that Tottenham could revoke the loan agreement in January and that the Red Devils would need to speak with the Lilywhites to extend the player’s tenure at Old Trafford (Fabrizio Romano).
Sergio Reguilon could be Spain-bound in January
Estadio Deportivo has now stated that Reguilon may return to Spain during the transfer window that opens next month.
According to the report, the Tottenham player “would welcome” the idea of playing in La Liga and would be “open to returning” to his home country.
The left-back is said to have plenty of suitors in Spain, especially considering how successful he was at Sevilla before joining Spurs.
Tottenham will only call up Reguilon if they believe Manchester United will be a direct competitor for a top-four position. I would anticipate Spurs agreeing to extend the loan agreement through the end of the current campaign if the left-back wishes to remain at Old Trafford.

Dane Scarlett is one of Tottenham’s most promising young talents among all of the others. After making a few first-team appearances and scoring his first senior goal in a friendly during the summer, the striker found himself at a bit of a turning point in his young career.
Scarlett had the option to go out on loan and gain some first-team experience, or he could have played the entire season on the fringes of Ange Postecoglou’s team. Scarlett decided to sign with Championship new boys Ipswich, but so far, the 19-year-old’s plan hasn’t quite worked out.
Ipswich Town is presently in second place in the Championship and is playing very well. Scarlett has thus had difficulty finding opportunities and has only played 11 substitute appearances for a total of 146 minutes (Transfermarkt).
In a piece from Football.London looking at the Spurs players currently on loan at other clubs, it is suggested that Scarlett “could technically be recalled” by the North London side in January. However, there is a problem with that.
Scarlett would be unable to sign with another team if he were to return to Spurs because he played for the Lilywhites in the Carabao Cup this season. Therefore, calling up Scarlett might only be necessary if joining Postecoglou’s team will allow the young player to be “better served.”
Scarlett “may just have to bide his time” at Ipswich because “the pathway” at Spurs is reportedly just as congested at the moment.
Right now, I really care about Scarlett, and I wish he could join a different club. Having said that, he might as well be back at Spurs given how much time he has spent playing for Ipswich.
