Philadelphia Eagles

JUST IN :The Tush Push is back without any plans to outlaw the influential Scrum for 2024.

In 2024, the “tush push” makes a comeback as the NFL sees no justification to prohibit the play that the Philadelphia Eagles have perfected, so the scrum will persist, albeit without Jason Kelce.

Fear not, Philadelphia, the “Brotherly Shove” is set to return in 2024. Troy Vincent, NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations, reassures that the Tush Push, a play akin to a scrum, will remain permissible next season. During a conference call, Vincent highlighted that after thorough review by various NFL committees, including the competition and health and safety committees, there was insufficient injury data to warrant a ban or even consideration for a vote on the play. Thus, the Tush Push endures, albeit minus its pivotal figure, Eagles center Jason Kelce.

What is the Tush Push?

The described “play” is straightforward: offensive linemen assume low three-point stances, aligning foot to foot, while three players position themselves behind and on each side of the quarterback. Upon the snap, the quarterback lowers himself as much as possible.

Trailing the linemen who are barely above the ground, propelling forward with their legs while maintaining a nearly horizontal position. Simultaneously, the quarterback is propelled from behind, with hands either on the quarterback’s lower back or, as the name suggests, tush – hence, the Tush Push.

Transitioning from the Tush Push to the Brotherly Shove:

The Philadelphia Eagles have established themselves as one of the NFL’s most accomplished, captivating, and inventive teams. Their proficiency in executing the Brotherly Shove is indisputable. As per Sporting News’ Jacob Camenker, in 2023.

Philadelphia succeeded in 37 out of 40 attempts at executing the tush push, boasting an impressive 92.5 percent success rate. In contrast, the rest of the league hovered around a 70 percent success rate when employing the scrum. What factors contributed to the Eagles’ exceptional success?

All that’s left is to await the outcome when tushes are pushed this autumn. The scrum has endured and will continue to be one of the NFL’s most mundane, thrilling, and triumphant plays.
