James Maddison searched for an known Tottenham team-mate on youtube to see if he was any good
Before joining the team, James Maddison admitted that he had never heard of one of his Tottenham teammates and had to look up the player’s name on YouTube “to see if he was any good.”
During the summer transfer window, the midfield player moved from relegated Leicester City to Spurs, and he’s enjoyed a great start to life in the capital.
The Premier League club led by Ange Postecoglou is currently in fifth place, and Maddison and his teammates are playing better than expected.
After Harry Kane left, the Australian manager rebuilt his team by adding nine players during the summer transfer window.
Furthermore, Maddison has now said that he had to study his YouTube highlights because he had no idea who one of his other summer signings was.
Madison talked about the signing of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who came from Empoli, in a conversation with veteran Premier League goalie Ben Foster on Amazon Prime Video.
“We signed him.” Evidently, I hadn’t signed yet,” Maddison recalled. I was thinking things like, “Who is he?” He was unknown to me.
The midfield player went on to say that before joining Spurs, he used to watch YouTube footage of his future teammate.
“I’m watching his YouTube Vicario highlights in the back of the car to see how good he was.”
After watching the YouTube video, Maddison made a joke about how impressed he was with the Italian’s skill and remarked, “They were alright, to be fair.” Fantastic shot-stopper!
The England international also talked about how Vicario has assisted him in becoming a better player this year and how they are both picking up tips from one another.
That’s the one thing, in my opinion—It’s difficult to score past him.
He came to the conclusion, “I want him in goal because he’s the hardest to score past. Sometimes we’ll practice penalties and shooting in training.”
