Ramon-Ra St. Brown and the Lions are reportedly close to agreeing to a new $26-28 million season contract.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, a wide receiver for the Pro Bowl, and the Detroit Lions are allegedly close to agreeing to a contract deal that would pay him between $26-28 million year.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, St. Brown will now be considered one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL as a result of the agreement. The only wideout to make over $30 million a year is Tyreek Hill, although Cooper Kupp ($26.7 million) and Davante Adams ($28 million) aren’t far behind.

As he approaches the last year of his rookie contract, St. Brown is expected to earn $3.4 million in 2019.

The USC product made his first All-Pro team in 2023 after being a Pro Bowler the previous two seasons.

His 315 career receptions are third most in a player’s first three seasons in NFL history. During that period, only Michael Thomas (321) and Justin Jefferson (324) made more recordings.

St. Brown finished third in yardage (1,515) and tied for second in the NFL in receptions (119).

To begin negotiations, the Lions were scheduled to meet with St. Brown’s agent last week at the scouting combine.

Detroit’s desire to retain St. Brown is understandable, and there is a strong incentive for both parties to complete a deal as soon as possible. Before Jefferson signs an extension, which will probably reset the wide receiver market, the Lions will probably want to sign St. Brown. If Jefferson’s new agreement succeeded, it would be shocking.

St. Brown, on the other hand, has only made $3.2 million in his career to date. His new contract’s signing bonus might be ten times that amount. With the possibility of an injury approaching, waiting for a new deal does not seem like a wise move, especially considering St. Brown’s lackluster career earnings to date.
