“I can say…” – Person close to “complete” centre-back teases Tottenham transfer approach

A “complete” defender’s close associate has leaked a Tottenham transfer hint, hinting to a potential Ange Postecoglou move.
Spurs want to sign new centre-back in January
Spurs’ intention to add a center-half in January is perhaps one of their worst-kept secrets. Postecoglou has limited choices if Cristian Romero is suspended once more or has an injury. Postecoglou has been forced to deal without star summer signing Micky van de Ven since early November.
Since Eric Dier isn’t expected to play much more this season, the Australian will be eager to avoid finding himself obliged to deploy Emerson Royal and Ben Davies as a makeshift tandem once more. Postecoglou has commended Davies for settling into his new center-back position so well, but he is equally certain that Spurs need another alternative in that position.
Postecoglou praised Davies, saying, “He’s done remarkably well,” prior to their match against Nottingham Forest today.
“Especially in our organization, center-back is still one of the few places where you need people with exceptional characteristics to be in there. His ability to cover for us there has been a great blessing. He has benefited from his exceptional ability to process information and comprehend the game, not only in relation to his own job but also in terms of how we want to play.
“Having Vic beside him, who has assumed some leadership responsibilities back there, and Romero with him is helpful in that regard. In the end, we still need to buy a new center-back as we are now a little anxious since we are already short and might run out of players if something were to happen again.”
According to credible media sources, the signing of a new center-back by Spurs is expected to take precedence next month. The north Londoners have been associated with some intriguing figures; among them is the sporting director, Johan Lange, who is reportedly targeting Everton player Jarrad Branthwaite.
Over the last week, Genoa star Radu Dragusin has also been the subject of increasingly frequent rumors, and his agent Florin Manea has provided an update on the Romanian’s future.

Spurs’ bid has been hinted at both the player’s representation and a close source, who spoke to the Italian news portal Tuttojuve.
Manea said that Tottenham had “contacts” with Dragusin, along with other interested parties like Newcastle and AC Milan, in response to a question on the 21-year-old defender’s status. He does, however, add stress that no “official offer” has yet been made.
“I can say that there have been some contacts, because he is a player that several clubs like, but at the moment there are no official offers,” Manea stated.
