‘He won’t see’: James Maddison shares what Tottenham’s squad keep saying about Postecoglou after team meetings
James Maddison, who acknowledged that he has never witnessed anything like the meetings the Australian conducts, revealed what Ange Postecoglou will not hear the Tottenham Hotspur players say about his team talks.
Speaking on Amazon Prime Sport, Maddison discussed how the Spurs manager has had an incredible start to his Premier League career and continues to win accolades.
Spurs supporters quickly developed a deep affection for Ange Postecoglou. Spurs have changed dramatically this year. They set the standard for the majority of the campaign’s early phases, of course.
Additionally, Postecoglou is receiving appreciation following Tottenham’s weekend 3–3 tie with Manchester City. It was a performance that amply demonstrated why the CEO is refusing to modify his approach to appease his naysayers and doubters.
And it appears that Postecoglou has wowed the Tottenham players just as much as the rest of us.
James Maddison clarified that while Ben Foster praised the Tottenham manager, the players frequently express skepticism regarding the manager’s team meetings.
“He has the bite you require. You speak about knowing individuals like the back of your hand. When he holds meetings to prepare for a game, match day minus one, or even the actual game day, you’re completely focused on it. It’s unlike any gathering I’ve ever been to. And I’ve had a number of managers under my belt,” he said to Amazon Prime Sport.
“At times, I don’t even think he intends to begin his motivating speeches; he just dives right in and you don’t even blink. He truly inspires me to go play for him, and to play well for him.
“He exudes charisma in his speech and in the way he employs small tales, nuggets of wisdom, and poignant analogies. Everything he tries, he succeeds. “That was a good one, wasn’t it?” the boys say as we leave a meeting and head back to the changing room—the part he won’t see.
A result to silence Spurs’ doubters
It was great to watch Tottenham stick to their values against Manchester City as a neutral. Naturally, nevertheless, that was not surprising.
To be honest, it was wonderful to witness Tottenham achieve success at the Etihad Stadium thanks to their core values. Undoubtedly, Spurs’ skeptics were getting ready to dig in following what they anticipated to be a crushing defeat at the hands of the champs.
However, Tottenham’s three losses did not accurately reflect their play. Thus, the victory over City would have greatly increased their confidence.
But based on Maddison’s comments regarding Postecoglou’s team meetings, it appears that the team did not require a confidence boost.
