OU football’s regular season is over following a 37-17 road loss to LSU on Saturday.

And as OU (6-6, 2-6 SEC) prepares for the postseason, its search for an offensive coordinator is also expected to reach a conclusion soon. When asked after the game, head coach Brent Venables said the Sooners should make a hire “in the next few days or so.”

In the last couple of months, (we’ve) been working on finding the right fit for us from a coaching standpoint,” Venables said. “And (we) feel that we’re in a great position.”

OU fired co-offensive coordinator Seth Littrell on Oct. 20 following a 35-9 home loss to South Carolina. The Sooners were 4-3 (1-3 SEC) at the time.

Co-offensive coordinator Joe Jon Finley then took over primary play-calling duties, and analyst Kevin Johns got promoted to interim quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator.

OU will now shift its focus to the postseason. It’ll compete in a bowl game for the 26th straight season, dating back to 1999.
