‘Big name in the making’: Tottenham scouts may have unearthed a real gem after £200,000 transfer
Slobodan Rubezic, an Aberdeen defender, is reportedly being tracked by Tottenham Hotspur following a scouting trip to Scotland.
Slobodan Rubezic, an Aberdeen center back, is rumored to have caught Tottenham Hotspur’s attention.
The Sun claims that Tottenham has been instructed by Ange Postecoglou to scout in Scotland.
Postecoglou led Celtic for two years, so he already has a respectable understanding of the Scottish game.
However, with one new player in the mix, the Australian wants Tottenham to stay abreast of the quality found north of the border.
Tottenham Hotspur attracted to Aberdeen defender Rubezic
According to The Sun, Tottenham scout Ian Broomfield seen Slobodan Rubezic, an Aberdeen center defender, in action.
Even though Rubezic has only been with Aberdeen for a few months, he is making waves.
With Postecoglou searching for more defensive options, Tottenham now seems eager to find them.
Though he hasn’t played a major role in the plans, Eric Dier has forged a strong partnership with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
That means there’s a chance for another signing, since Rubezic is now being considered before 2024.
Who is Tottenham target Slobodan Rubezic?
Originally from Belgrade in Serbia, Rubezic played for both Cukaricki and Vojvodina in their youth divisions.
Before returning to Serbia with Novi Pazar, Rubezic went on to Arda Kardzhali in Bulgaria.
During the summer, Aberdeen made a move to sign Rubezic, offering him a mere £200,000 in exchange for Pittodrie.
Rubezic, a massive 6′ 4″ defender, doesn’t currently appear to be a typical Postecoglou defender, but he is still young and may grow.
Rubezic’s teammate Stefan Gartenmann, who told The Press and Journal that the defender has “everything to be a top defender,” clearly sees big things in the player.
Gartenmann went on to say that if Rubezic keeps improving, he will become a “big name in the making,” projecting great things for him.
Rubezic recently changed his international team to Montenegro, where he made his debut in October versus Lebanon.
Rubezic is a possible gem that Tottenham may have discovered, and they will probably keep an eye on him going forward.
