‘High hopes’…. Pundit Think 19-year-old Player Could Push James Maddison next season

There are some talented young players emerging for Tottenham Hotspur.

While Alfie Devine is currently blazing brightly, other players such as Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington appear to be future stars.

Spurs have great expectations for Devine, who was just brought back from his Port Vale loan to prove himself at a higher level.

In fact, Alasdair Gold said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast that Tottenham sincerely feels that Devine might be a member of the first team squad for the upcoming campaign, and that he could genuinely battle James Maddison for a spot in the squad.

Devine could push Maddison

Gold disclosed his knowledge of the adolescent.

“Everything he’s done so far has matched the expectations, and there are such high hopes for him within Spurs and a real feeling that next season, if he has a good season this season, he could be a real Maddison alternative and someone to push him as this young player,” Gold added.

Scary

Since Harry Kane, Devine may be the most promising academy product Tottenham has had.

We’re getting ahead of ourselves here, but this is a unique talent if Spurs officials sincerely believe he may challenge James Maddison in the upcoming campaign.

Remember that Maddison was by far Tottenham’s best player this season while he was healthy. If Devine can even approach Maddison’s performance level next season, they have a superstar on their hands.

Even at just 19 years old, this young man is already being considered as a contender to challenge one of the top football players in the nation for a spot on the Spurs squad.

Devine sounds like a genuine talent, so perhaps he can develop the way the Spurs anticipate.
