Sad News as 5-Star WR Jaime Ffrench Decommits from Alabama After Nick Saban’s Retirement
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, wide receiver Jaime Ffrench decommitted from the Crimson Tide on Sunday, costing Alabama another five-star prospect.
French is the second five-star wide receiver to withdraw from Alabama following the announcement on Wednesday of the famous head coach Nick Saban’s retirement. Ryan Williams was also lost by the Tide on Saturday.
According to the 247Sports composite, French, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, is ranked as the No. 11 player in the country, the No. 3 wide receiver, and the No. 2 player in the state of Florida.
Ffrench thought about Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State before deciding to commit to Alabama.
Alabama has already lost a few players to the transfer site in addition to Ffrench and Williams, including tight end Amari Niblack, who made his exit known on Sunday. The Tide will attempt to hold onto a few key players, but with Saban’s exit, the transfers and decommittments were inevitable.
Fortunately for Alabama supporters, the team is being led by a new, elite coach. Only a few days after Nick Saban’s retirement, the Tide hired former Washington head coach Kalen Deboer on Friday. During his tenure at Washington, Deboer only lost three games, including the College Football Playoff championship game against Michigan last week.
Though Deboer has large shoes to fill, his goal will be to continue Saban’s winning legacy.

Ryan Williams is being shown by a few notable players on the current Alabama football team that he is still wanted in Tuscaloosa.
Five-star recruit Williams, a previous Alabama commit, is weighing his choices before deciding to sign with the university of his choosing in February.
With Kalen DeBoer as the head coach of the Tide football team, team leaders are now helping to get Williams back on the road to Tuscaloosa. Malachi Moore and Deontae Lawson, the starting defensive backs for Alabama and natives of the state, responded on Williams’ most recent Instagram post featuring images from his official visit to Texas A&M, telling him they wanted him at Alabama.
Williams is still debating Texas A&M, Alabama, Auburn, and Texas.
