‘Big money Big News’ For Tottenham As They make huge bid to sign ‘incredibly Fantastic Gem’
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur was willing to spend “big money” to get Jean-Clair Todibo, a defender for OGC Nice, this month.
Jean-Clair Todibo’s future has been under discussion, and Romano has acknowledged that it will be “very difficult” for the defender to leave Nice during the January transfer window.
Prior to the transfer season, Spurs were strongly linked to a deal for the French defender; some reports even suggested that Toddibo was persuaded by Tottenham’s proposal.
However, Spurs are now focused on Radu Dragusin of Genoa and are still negotiating to sign the defender.
Spurs’ move for Dragusin seems to have been motivated solely by Nice’s refusal to let go of Todibo this month.
Tottenham were ready to launch huge offer for Todibo
When asked if Man United would be able to sign Todibo in January, Romano was speaking on The United Stand.
The trade insider stated that Spurs were prepared to make a sizable financial bid for the defender while also acknowledging that it would be a “very difficult” deal for United to complete.
“I believe it will be extremely difficult for Todibo to leave Nice in January as Tottenham was willing to offer a significant amount of money for him,” Romano stated.
Nice refused to engage in discussion. Not for thirty, thirty, forty million euros. Thus, I anticipate that it will be really challenging.
It did seem like Tottenham’s top priority before the January transfer window was Todibo.This season, the “incredible” center-back has been a standout for Nice and is drawing interest from many elite teams.
However, it’s understandable why Nice doesn’t want to part with one of its star players in the middle of the campaign.
The French team is only five points behind league leaders PSG and is still in the running for the Ligue 1 championship.
With his quickness and aggressive defending style, Todibo would have been a great addition to the Spurs and a great rival for Romero.
Spurs have made the proper choice to move quickly on to other targets, though, as Nice isn’t even prepared to engage in negotiations for the 23-year-old.
Ange Postecoglou will undoubtedly be optimistic that the team can sign a new center back as soon as possible. The Australian has few choices in center defense with Cristian Romero and Ben Davies out of the picture.
