James Maddison will ultimately rank second in Tottenham’s modern history, behind Harry Kane, according to Jermaine Jenas.

In a Mail Sport segment, Jenas had to choose an eleven from the Spurs roster and his old teammates from Tottenham.

The pundit was faced with a number of tough decisions, not the least of which was picking between Madison and Robbie Keane.

While Maddison has excelled at the North London club right away and appears to be a step above any midfielder the team has had since Christian Eriksen, Keane is one of the team’s greatest Premier League legends.

In addition to his 132 goals during his two stints at White Hart Lane, the Irishman was a creative force who frequently dropped into the hole and forged outstanding partnerships with players like Jermain Defoe and Dimitar Berbatov.

How high can James Maddison go with Tottenham?

While acknowledging that Maddison is quickly becoming a legend for the team, Jenas gave his former Tottenham teammate the benefit of the doubt.

When asked to select one of the two, the pundit remarked, “That’s really difficult.” I’m heading to Keano. Every song is about Keano. And Madison, in my opinion, will be that. Since Harry Kane, I believe he will be the club’s biggest attraction.

I must admit that I have a slight bias in this question because Keano was one of my first Spurs heroes. But Madison has exuded class from the moment he arrived, and I have no doubt that when he leaves the team, the midfield player will leave behind a wonderful legacy.

According to journalist Dean Jones, Ange Postecolgou’s top priority when it comes to signing a forward in January is versatility in the prospective newcomer.

We shared a story this week from The Daily Mirror stating that Postecoglou believes Tottenham will sign a striker in January.

The source stated that although Brentford is unwilling to let their star player go, the Lilywhites are still pursuing Ivan Toney. They also mentioned that the Spurs are closely monitoring Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord.

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Richarlison, who is drawing interest from Saudi Pro League teams ahead of January, could be let go by Tottenham.

According to the source, Spurs are anticipated to take any substantial offer for the Brazilian and utilize the money to sign a top center back.

Postecoglou wants a forward who is versatile

Jones has since clarified, though, that Postecoglou would prefer to sign a flexible forward who can play anywhere in the front three. The reporter implied that if Richarlison stays put, the North London team would not think about acquiring a center-forward.

Jones stated to GiveMeSport, “It’s an adaptation, and what they want above all else is versatility.” That’s really all it takes to be a forward for Tottenham at the moment. They seem to be looking for someone who can fill both the more peripheral roles and, if feasible, take on the lead role.

“Son has a good track record of staying fit, so he’s going to be the guy who goes through the middle nine times out of ten right now. However, they will obviously lose because the Asia Cup is quickly approaching. That is something I believe they will need to consider.

Richarlison is still listed on their records. They should acquire a more central forward if Richarlison departs, in my opinion, as they will be short and require a player who can penetrate the area.

“But I believe it will be a player who plays around the center forward if Richarlison stays, which currently seems to be the most likely scenario.”

Postecoglou has Son and Richarlison to cover the number nine position, so I expect Spurs to add another player along the lines of Brennan Johnson. Johnson and Kulusevski are also available to fill in there if needed, and playing Donley or Veliz is another option.
