“Move appears more likely” – Alasdair Gold’s optimistic transfer update on 26-year-old linked with Spurs

As per Alasdair Gold, the Tottenham correspondent, Spurs are still keen on acquiring Tosin Adarabioyo.

Following the acquisition of Micky van de Ven, Ange Postecoglou was eager to add more defensive depth to the team, and Spurs were heavily connected to the Fulham center back throughout the summer.

However, Tottenham was unable to sign him or any other center-back, which put them in a precarious situation where their only competent backup option was Eric Dier.

And they paid a price for not signing a defender at that particular moment in the ongoing problem. For the past three games, Cristian Romero has been suspended while Micky van de Ven has been sidelined due to an injury.

Ange’s preferred defenders, Ben Davies and Emerson Royal, filled in as temporary center-backs while they were away.

Romero will return in the following game, but Van van Ven is anticipated to miss more time, which increases the importance of adding a defender in the January transfer window.

Numerous options have been linked to them; according to a source, Spurs have compiled a shortlist of four defensive targets: Marc Guehi, Jarrad Branthwaite, Lloyd Kelly, and Jean-Clair Todibo.

According to a different rumor, Ange has also given Spurs the order to pursue Inacio of Sporting Lisbon.

Guehi may now be ruled out as it was revealed that the player would not be selling him before the 2024 European Championship and would instead stay until the summer.

With six months remaining on his contract, Tosin Adarabioyo is a summer target for Tottenham, and Alasdair Gold has recently stated that the club is still interested in signing him. He does, however, add that at this stage, a free transfer in the summer is more plausible.

He stated (via Football London):

“Tosin Adarabioyo of Fulham has drawn interest from Tottenham ahead of January; the 26-year-old has just recently recovered from groin surgery.

“The center back has just six months left on his contract, but it looks more likely that he will sign a free transfer in the summer.”

Spurs still have an urgent need to buy a center-back in January, even though the Fulham defender would be better off making a free transfer in the summer.
