‘No’… Ange Postecoglou drops hint he will not start £85,000-a-week Tottenham star vs Man City
Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has hinted that Eric Dier won’t be starting for the team against Manchester City.
Spurs have experienced a terrible deal of injury luck, don’t they? James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Micky van de Ven, and other players are hurt, and Cristian Romero is still out of commission. Dier won’t start, so it appears that Postecoglou has already made up his mind regarding his defense!

Over the years, Eric Dier was one of Tottenham’s most vital players, but after Ange Postecoglou joined the team in the summer, everything changed.
Dier doesn’t appeal to the Australian. The Englishman has only appeared in two games this season, and he won’t be able to return when everyone is free.
To counter the league’s top striker, Erik Haaland, some Spurs supporters believed Postecoglou would bring Dier back before Sunday’s Premier League matchup with Manchester City.
The Tottenham manager, though, has denied that theory and made it seem as though he is content with Ben Davies and Emerson Royal, the two players who started at center back against Aston Villa last weekend.
Postecoglou responded, “No,” to Alasdair Gold’s question about whether he felt compelled to start Dier. I believed that we had trouble with it last week, possibly with the set-pieces. To be honest, Villa excels at them.
“In general, I felt that our defense was really pretty strong. More than the first goal, the second goal left us feeling let down. We paid a price for our defensive passivity during that five to ten minute period, not just from the back four. That is more of a group effort.
They are all the same height as they were last week; they have not grown. We will accept that even though we tried to feed them something different.
Eric Dier has no future at Tottenham
Since Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were unquestionably Tottenham’s first-choice starters at the back, it was evident in the summer that Eric Dier would not be playing on a regular basis.
Nonetheless, a lot of people believed that if the two men above weren’t available, the Englishman would enter first.
Even though Tottenham is currently without Romero and Van de Van, Postecoglou still doesn’t think highly of Dier.
