Doctor: Tottenham key man to be out for rest of 2023 with Grade 3 hamstring tear
Dr Rajpal Brar reports that wide player Ryan Sessegnon of Tottenham Hotspur is sidelined for the time being with a Grade 3 hamstring rupture.
The injury expert thinks it’s difficult to predict with any degree of certainty when the left footer, who can play both out wide and full-back, will return to action, but 2023 is not going to be that year.
The Englishman has experienced setbacks in his recovery from the hamstring tear, and his level of fitness has significantly decreased.
Speaking exclusively with Toronto News about Sessegnon’s circumstances, Dr. Brar, a sports scientist and physical therapist, stated:
“Sessegnon has had a hamstring injury for a considerable period of time.
“He has experienced several setbacks, including during the summer and early in the season, and this seems to be a Grade 3 rupture.”
Since we don’t yet know how he will respond to stronger intensities, it is challenging to provide a timeframe.
His hamstrings are known to be extremely sensitive, and the amount of time he has missed has undoubtedly caused his fitness levels to decline dramatically.
“He won’t be returning before the year is out.”
The 23-year-old has been sidelined by Ange Postecoglou this season due to an injury he sustained upon joining the team.
He made nine league starts in the previous campaign and was a useful option for the Lilywhites at left back and left wing-back.
He still has two years left on his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and he’ll be eager to prove himself again.
On the left wing, Sessegnon can also play higher up the field and threaten goals.
