Wow what Former Spurs defender reveals about Heung-min Son that will get you amazed

Kevin Wimmer acknowledged that he has many great memories of his two years at Tottenham Hotspur and shared that he and Son Heung-min are still close friends.

After moving to Tottenham from Koln in the summer of 2015, Wimmer had a great start to his career. He did a good job filling in for the injured Jan Vertonghen during his debut season at White Hart Lane.

In his second season in North London, he struggled to find consistent playing time, thus he ultimately made the decision to join Stoke City in quest of first-team football.

Due to the Bet365 stadium’s relegation from the Premier League in his first season, Wimmer’s career there did not go as planned.

The center back later spent time on loan at teams including Hannover 96, Mouscron, and Karlsruher before joining Rapid Wien in the summer of 2021 and moving back to his native Austria.

Kevin Wimmer looks back on happy Spurs days

The former Tottenham player, who is now on the field for Slovan Bratislava of Slovakia, has talked openly about his time at N17 and the chemistry he shared with his former teammates.

It was a very wonderful time, Wimmer said, according to The Athletic. Being there was a dream come true for me because I got to play with such huge players and be in a dressing room with such amazing camaraderie.

“I saw the guys were genuinely down to earth on the first day. It’s crucial that the team is in a good attitude since they have so many games and are under so much pressure. We had excellent chemistry, which is a necessity.

When Wimmer was at Spurs, the Austrian had a little bit of a bromance with Son, who admitted that the two got along well right away because they both spoke German.

“A German-speaking player is coming, so you will have one guy you can speak to,” Allan Dixon (the player relations officer) announced when Sonny joined a few weeks after him.

“His German definitely caught me off guard. It was pretty nice, but I knew he had played for Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen. And using a little of my native tongue was also quite pleasant.

He appeared just how you see him. He is really cordial. He’s hilarious and upbeat all the time. He thus contributes a highly positive attitude to the team. And yes, right away we felt a strong connection.

It was advantageous for him to have a language-compatible partner. His English wasn’t great at first, either, and we did a lot of things together. We were always in attendance at training, and following, we went out to eat or explored the city.

“After I departed, he remained the same. Every season, he improved further, but his mindset remained the same. He never changed; he was always the same. That is why we remain in contact. It’s unusual to have a character like this at his level. He truly is among the greatest.

Wimmer’s first season at Tottenham was fairly impressive, and it appeared like he would have a successful professional career at the top level. However, it appears that the center-back never really recovered from his setbacks at Stoke City.
