‘Definitely happening’ : Gold makes bold statement concerning Tottenham target
Even though Tottenham Hotspur completed a number of transactions during the summer transfer window, this team still has several deficiencies.
While the majority of what needed to be done was completed by Spurs, we can’t help but think that another center-back would have been beneficial, particularly after they lost Davinson Sanchez after the deadline.
Fortunately, it sounds like assistance might be approaching. Alasdair Gold of the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast claims that Spurs will bring in a new center-back in January. Postecoglou wanted a new defender in the summer, but that didn’t materialize, therefore Spurs are likely to deal with this issue in January, Gold claims.
Centre-back incoming
Gold revealed his knowledge of the Spurs’ search for a new defender.
“With the Sanchez, they have that £12.8 million to go for a new hire in January. Let’s face it, they are going to sign a new center back in January. Postecoglou wanted it to happen this summer, but it didn’t, so it will in January. In a way, it has to, Gold said.
It’s fantastic to know that Spurs will be looking to add a new center-half, but who will it be?
We’ve heard in the past that Spurs admire players like Max Kilman and Marc Guehi, and a bid was made for Lloyd Kelly on the final day of the transfer window, so perhaps they are just a few names to keep an eye on.
Spurs had a busy summer transfer window, but it appears that they already have a rough idea of what they’ll be doing next winter. It appears that a new center-half is at the top of their priority list.
