Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto emerges as Everton ‘number one target’ – Sky Sports

Everton have identified Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto as their “number one target” when it comes to new wingers, according to Sky Sports.

The publication reported on its website on Monday (14 August) that Toffees boss Sean Dyche wants to add another wide player after securing a loan deal for Leeds man Jack Harrison.

And his former Whites teammate Gnonto is the club’s priority in that area, although Leeds are adamant that the Italian is not for sale, Sky Sports added.

“Everton are still looking to sign Wilfried Gnonto this summer despite the arrival of Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds,” according to Sky Sports.

“Sean Dyche wants to add another winger to his squad and Gnonto remains Everton’s number one target.

“Leeds have reiterated that Gnonto isn’t for sale having already rejected numerous approaches from Everton so far this summer.”

Another attacker incoming?

Everton desperately needed new attackers this summer following the club’s struggles in all competitions last season.

Main man Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to struggle with injury, while fellow striker Ellis Simms has left the club to join Coventry City.

Youngsters Lewis Dobbin and Tom Cannon remain, as does Neal Maupay, with the latter handed a start against Fulham on Saturday (12 August).

But the former Brighton man looks certain to be dropped after his poor display, with new signing Youssef Chermiti perhaps getting the nod from the start next time out.

Out wide meanwhile, Arnaut Danjuma has arrived from Villarreal on a season-long loan, as has Leeds ace Harrison.

But it seems that Everton manager Sean Dyche is still not satisfied with his options, with Gnonto certain to improve the club’s chances of goals this season.

It may, however, be very difficult to persuade Leeds to let the youngster go, particularly having just lost fellow winger Harrison.
