Leeds: Farke “seriously considering” double swoop

Leeds United is starting to make moves under Daniel Farke as they attempt to recover from their 2023–24 Premier League relegation.

What’s the latest transfer news involving Charlie Taylor and Karl Darlow?

Six years after his contentious departure from Elland Road, The Athletic’s Phil Hay reported that Leeds United are considering a comeback for former player Taylor, now of Premier League team Burnley. Hay stated: “Defensively, Leeds require a left-back having decided to listen to enquiries for Junior Firpo. They are considering making a move for Burnley’s Charlie Taylor, a defender who graduated from the Elland Road academy, as well as Ryan Manning, who is available after leaving Swansea City on a free transfer.

Freddie Woodman of Preston North End and Marek Rodak of Fulham have both been mentioned as possible goaltender additions for Leeds United, and negotiations for their transfers have already begun.

According to BILD through The Daily Mail, Leeds United has reportedly also contacted Alex Nubel of Bayern Munich as they prepare for interest in Illan Meslier.

Journalist Jacobs stated to Football FanCast that Leeds United is’seriously exploring’ bids for both Taylor and Darlow.

Would Charlie Taylor and Karl Darlow strengthen Leeds United?

Taylor and Darlow are likely on par in terms of quality with some of the choices Leeds United currently has available to them, but both have success in the Sky Bet Championship and would be wise additions as the Whites aim to return to the Premier League.

According to Transfermarkt, left-back Taylor, who was born in York, made 41 appearances in all competitions and contributed two assists to Burnley’s English second-tier championship victory last season.

On the other hand, Darlow spent time out on loan at Hull City last term and combining that with his involvement for Newcastle United, he featured 13 times last season and managed to keep five clean sheets.

The Athletic reports that Leeds United manager Farke is apparently interested in signing Swansea City striker Joel Piroe. Farke may be prudent to look for players who have experience at the level in which Leeds United will compete during the current transfer window.

Though the German manager will have his team working hard to try to secure the best possibility of promotion back to the top division at the end of this season, leaving the Sky Bet Championship will definitely be a challenging feat.
