KENTUCKY STAR JUSTIN EDWARDS DECLARES FOR NBA DRAFT…
Lexington, KY – In a move that was widely expected, Kentucky Wildcats guard Justin Edwards has announced that he will be declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft.
Edwards, a 6’3″ sophomore from Philadelphia, PA, had a breakout season for the Wildcats, averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He was a key contributor to Kentucky’s success, helping the team win the SEC Tournament championship and earn a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
“I’m excited to take the next step in my basketball journey,” Edwards said in a statement. “I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had at Kentucky and the support of my coaches, teammates, and fans. I’m looking forward to the challenge of competing at the highest level.”
Edwards is considered one of the top shooting guards in the 2025 NBA Draft class, with a strong combination of scoring, rebounding, and playmaking abilities. He is projected to be a mid-to-late first-round pick, with some mock drafts having him as high as No. 15 overall.
“Justin has been an incredible asset to our program, and we’re proud of the progress he’s made during his time at Kentucky,” said Wildcats head coach John Calipari. “He’s a talented player with a bright future ahead of him, and we’re excited to see him take the next step in his career.”
Edwards’ decision to declare for the NBA Draft marks the latest chapter in a long line of talented players to come through the Kentucky program. The Wildcats have produced 34 NBA draft picks since Calipari took over as head coach in 2009.
With Edwards’ departure, Kentucky will look to reload its roster for the 2025-26 season. The Wildcats have already signed several top recruits, including five-star guards Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard.
