Two days later, UNC football looks like the frontrunner for the former three-star recruit out of Georgia who played two seasons at LSU before heading to College Station.

Meanwhile, the Tar Heels are almost certain to lose heralded gunslinger Drake Maye to the NFL Draft, opening the door for a potential deep quarterback battle in Chapel Hill next season.
Max Johnson, who will be a graduate transfer and immediately eligible wherever he ends up next, played two seasons for the Aggies. This year, he became the full-time starting quarterback following an early-season injury to Conner Weigman.
