In Thursday’s SEC opener, Tamari Key looked like herself again.

She played 24 minutes against Auburn — her most of the season. Even though she only scored four points, she brought down six rebounds and blocked three shots, proving herself as a force for the Lady Vols (8-5, 1-0 SEC) defensively. She will need to do so again for Tennessee to have success against Kentucky (8-7, 1-0).

“Obviously, her presence was so great on the defensive end,” Tennessee head coach Kellie Harper said. “We needed her in there, and she got extended minutes. She affects the offense. She affects what the other team is doing, and we’ll just continue to work towards lengthening that and progressing in other areas as well.”
