Tottenham is circling the Norwich player. Dylan Thompson, a teenage player for Norwich City, is coveted by Tottenham.
The young goalkeeper has recently undergone a trial at Tottenham, and according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon, Spurs are impressed. They are apparently prepared to try to reach an agreement on a fee to bring him to the north London side.
According to Nixon, Norwich has been unsuccessful in getting the goalkeeper to agree to a new contract. As a result, it’s possible that the two teams will now sit down and negotiate a deal.
Spurs take closer look at Dylan Thompson
The highly regarded Thompson has recently been training with Spurs after declining a contract with the Canaries, and the clubs may soon agree on a deal, as it is obvious that he would prefer a move to the Premier League leaders at this time.
In fact, it appears as though he may fulfill his ambition, as Spurs have expressed interest in signing him and the two parties may soon come to an agreement.
Spurs are reportedly willing to pay a compensation fee to Norwich City in order to sign Thompson, and they may have edged out Sheffield Wednesday in this particular transfer race as the Owls are also considering Thompson as a way to improve their options going forward.
However, given that Thompson trains with Spurs, it appears that his heart is with moving to the Premier League’s current league leaders rather than anywhere else. The Owls are currently struggling in the Championship and could, in theory, give him starting opportunities sooner than Spurs could.
Spurs on course to sign another EFL talent
Spurs have undoubtedly looked to the EFL for prospective new additions without hesitation.
The most recent example of this might be Dele Alli, who joined from MK Dons and is currently in his greatest form of his career, collaborating with players like Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane.
Though Jack Clarke struggled to maintain his form after joining Spurs after blowing things up at Leeds United, not every young player that goes there is a hit.
He has indeed since made his way to Sunderland, where he seems to be back on track, but it has taken him some time to settle there.
As a result, Thompson will be eager to prove himself at Spurs and will be hoping that, ultimately, he can force his way into the first team, even if as a young goalkeeper that will take time.
However, it would appear that Spurs believe he has the capacity to make it in time, and it is now a matter of “when” rather than “if” the club signs a deal to bring him in and sign with Norwich City.
