Husker QB Chubba Purdy Says He Will Never Play With Nebraska Cornhuskers Again till Coach Matt Rhule Will Leave

The Nevada football team gained another quarterback on Monday, this one with a high-profile brother preparing for the NFC Championship football game.

Chubba Purdy, who played quarterback at Nebraska and originally committed to San Jose State out of the transfer portal, posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday that he has changed to Nevada

Purdy, the younger brother of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, cited the Spartans’ coaching change for his decision.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Chubba Purdy will have two years of eligibility at Nevada.

Purdy started his career at Florida State. He spent two seasons there before going to Nebraska for the next two years. He made 16 appearances during his time between the two programs, including five starts.

Purdy has completed 85-162 (52.5 percent) of his passes with the Seminoles and Cornhuskers, good for 846 yards, six touchdowns with seven interceptions. He also rushed 53 times for 253 yards and three scores.

Purdy appeared in six games this past season, including starting the final two games for the Cornhuskers.

Purdy originally committed to San Jose State under Brent Brennan, who took the head coaching job at Arizona.
