Jesse Lingard, a former Man United player, has had a difficult summer after being released by Nottingham Forest at the end of the previous campaign.
The 30-year-old has been vying for a contract with West Ham United, where he previously enjoyed a fruitful loan stint in 2021.
In spite of the fact that the club also has a Europa League campaign ahead of it, David Moyes still doesn’t appear to have made up his mind about whether or not to include him in the team for the 2023–24 Premier League season.
He won’t be joining DC United, an MLS team led by his former Man United and England teammate Wayne Rooney.
Because Lingard wanted a long-term, guaranteed contract, Rooney was unable to sign him before the MLS roster cutoff on September 13 according to the Washington Post (subscription needed).
The same holds true for Andre Ayew and Ravel Morrison, who Rooney is thought to have been monitoring.
Free agent Lingard will undoubtedly be hopeful that his efforts on the West Ham training field will soon pay off as he currently appears to have no other options.
It is clear why Lingard would want to be a part of that given the way the Hammers have begun the season, which suggests that they might have another outstanding campaign.

When speaking over the weekend, the talkSPORT analyst lavished admiration on the Hammers star.
As one of the Premier League’s most underappreciated attacking players, Cascarino emphasized how much better Bowen has been so far this season than he was last:
“Three goals in three away Premier League games. He also didn’t have a particularly strong start to last season since he was missing. I like his tenacity and hunger. Although he is not the tallest, he is powerful and has some personality. Right now, he’s playing outstanding football. He’s one of the most underrated wide receivers in the nation, in my opinion.
Bowen has to have a tremendous season this semester. At the absolute least, I’m talking about 30 goal contributions.
This season, he unmistakably looks to be gritting his teeth and acting as like he has a point to make.
In my opinion, the 26-year-old was unfairly left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the September internationals.
But if he continues to perform for West Ham like he has through the first four Premier League games of the season, Southgate will surely summon him the following time.
